A private social club located in a beautiful protected harbor on Barnegat Bay.

Founded in 1912, LEHYC's mission statement is "to promote yachting, to foster other sports, to promote social functions and friendship among those interested in yachting and other sports, and to advance the general prosperity of Long Beach Island." To this, we add a keen awareness of our responsibility for stewardship of the bay, ocean and islands which comprise our environment, and where we make lifelong memories.

Our History

Founded in 1912

In July, 1912, a group of Beach Haven summer residents, unhappy with the direction the Beach Haven Yacht Club was going, met and formed the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club. By the end of the 1912 summer the new club had over 30 members. At that time the island was lightly developed and mostly seasonal; summer residents tended to come to Beach Haven for extended vacations, not just weekends, there was no road bridge to the island, access was by ferry or train only.
